World Food Day celebrates the global progress made toward zero hunger and highlights the world’s commitment to ending world hunger by 2030. Celebrated annually on 16 October, World Food Day promotes global awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger, and to highlight the need to ensure healthy diets for all. Collective action across 150 countries is what makes World Food Day one of the most celebrated days of the United Nations’ calendar. Hundreds of events and outreach activities bring together governments, businesses, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), the media, and general public. They promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure healthy diets for all. Bright Funds created the World Food Day Fund so that you can support the work of great organizations addressing hunger in worldwide. World Central Kitchen, Inc.

Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises. Applying our model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served hundreds of millions nourishing meals around the world.When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes with the urgency of now to start cooking meals for people in need. WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly by partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or kitchens. To support regional economies, WCK prioritizes purchasing local ingredients to cook with or distribute. Food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis.

Action Against Hunger USA

Our mission is to save, improve and protect lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection and treatment of undernutrition, especially during and after emergency crises caused by situations of conflict, displacement, poverty, discrimination, inequality, or natural disaster. From crisis to sustainability, we tackle the immediate, underlying and root causes of undernutrition and itseffects through a multisectoral approach. By designing our programmes with local communities, integrating them into national systems, and working with partners, we further ensure that short-term interventions become long-term solutions.

Our mission is to advance change in America by ensuring equitable access to nutritious food for all in partnership with food banks, policymakers, supporters, and the communities we serve.

One Acre Fund

One Acre Fund supplies smallholder farmers with the financing and training they need to grow more food and earn more money from their farms. Instead of giving handouts, we invest in farmers to generate a permanent gain in income. We supply a complete service bundle of seeds and fertilizer, financing, training, and market facilitation—and we deliver these services within walking distance of the rural farmers we serve. We measure success in our ability to make farmers more prosperous and we always put Farmers First.
